This exciting concert was recorded live at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Dizzy Gillespie's lifelong dedication to music made him a legend. The impact that he made on the jazz world is undisputed. Gillespie never failed to gather around him the greatest musicians in the world. The solo offerings of such stars as James Moddy, Slide Hampton, (who also wrote most of the arrangements), Arturo Sandoval, Claudio Roditti, Paquito D'Rivera, and Mario Rivera are in themselves superb. The music generated is full of the different styles and rhythms that encapsulates the excitement of Afro-Caribbean jazz. The soundtrack of this concert won the Grammy Award of 1991 for the best Big Band Jazz Ensemble performance.
